My shamanic cleansing in Ecuador

This is the first time I have ever visited a shaman. I took the local bus from Tena to Puerto Misahualli and, after walking around on the beach and observing the wild monkeys, I decided to take a boat trip on the Rio Napo. We stopped at the Comunidad Kichwa Ayllu Awarina where I ended up getting a cleansing. The shaman said he detected some negative energy and performed the ceremony to expel any bad spirits. The most interesting part of the experience was that, about halfway into the cleansing (the entire time with my eyes closed) I saw a bluish-purple ray of light to my left. It was like a portal through which the bad energy was leaving! Oh, and that is marijuana he is smoking and some type of very strong alcohol that he is drinking out of the plastic bottle.
