myVRscope™ is an immersive microscopy Virtual Reality (VR) lab ecosystem, where students and faculty access microbiology content and conduct lab activities on-demand using VR headsets. myVRscope™ leverages a virtual 3D photorealistic compound light microscope for learner activities and integrates the user experience with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab instructor- Dr. Beaker for support & guidance.
The product was developed with the explicit design intent to create an 'intelligent, immersive learning experience' for on-campus and online learners alike.
Using myVRscope™ learners can perform all aspects of microscopy lab activities in the same way that they would with a physical microscope. myVRscope™ provides learners with unlimited access to their required lab activities, removing the obstacles of limited lab time in class or insufficient quantities of required lab equipment or specimens.
myVRscope™ can be used to provide access to our non-traditional students who need flexible schedules to complete assignments as well as the learners that are economically challenged with limited resources.
myVRscope™ has the first AI-powered virtual lab instructor (Dr. Beaker) incorporated into a virtual reality learning application.
The AI tutor provides individualized support for the learner and enables a deeper exploration (and mastery) for microscopy history, the fundamentals of compound light microscope functionality, and microscopy protocols.
The AI Tutor also mitigates the feeling of isolation that learners can experience using VR. In their review of the product, Senior AI Developers have observed that myVRscope™ is far more advanced than AI efforts that they are seeing from most emerging educational products.
This product was designed using our Immersive Learning Experience Design (ILXD) model combined with extensive playtesting of the product with both students and faculty across multiple campuses.
