Things To Do & Best Beaches In Pula Croatia, on the tip of Istria Peninsula. Pula may not be a picture-perfect coastal town like some other places in Croatia, but it is almost a perfect summer holiday destination. Pula was home of the Romans and the Venetians and was the major naval port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Between the world wars it belonged to Italy and after the WWII it became part of Yugoslavia, succeeded by Croatia. Rich history makes Pula a unique town filled with ancient Roman monuments, Venetian palaces and huge number of Austrian fortresses. It is surrounded by a beautiful coastline and amazing islands including famous Brijuni National Park.
