2016 Louisville Water's Water Main Investment

In 2016, Louisville Water will spend $21 million to inspect, repair and replace water mains in its service area. We have nearly 4,200 miles of water main in our system, ranging in size from six-inches in diameter to 60-inches. Our infrastructure dates back to 1860 and there is one section of the original pipe in place. Our goal is to continually reduce the number of annual water main breaks to around 635 breaks per year, which is considered best-in-class for a utility this size.
