Dad voice is stern and gentle

"Bc it's after Labor Day"

The child's voice cuts in like a knife

"BUT LABOR DAY IS COMING UP"

Dad is perplexed by the depth of his child's wisdom

"I suppose you're right, apple of my eye. For time is cyclical and the beginning is also the end. Always continuous yet paradoxically still. This passing moment in time... right now."

he digresses

"and since Labor Day will hopefully come in September of the year two thousand and twenty-two... your statement is correct ... Labor Day is on its way

The child's eyes turned unfocused... but not quite crossed

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnndddddddd SNAP!

Her consciousness re-aligns with an awakened facial expression and upright posture

No sooner did the child speak the words

"Wait... Labor Day just passed"

The dad voice replied

"And that's why... the water park... is closed"

Female patient. Mid 60's. MVA whiplash and Post Concussive Syndrome

The practitioner was holding a socked foot in each hand

"The right foot belonged to my father's mother. She had bunions and that's a bunion"

that the paternal foot deformity was cast on the masculine side of the body

and the maternal foot materialized unto the feminine side

So we have to test the theory

Hammertoes or claw toes are a possible symbolic expression of a closed heart or a controlling mind.

"Was your mother's mother... perhaps... a little bit grumpy?"

The patient and her family companions chuckle at the accuracy

Now... Bunions send the big toe askew... asymmetrical and aberrant force transfers will result but in this case...

"Was your father's mother... maybe just... a little off?"

Like a schoolyard gang of little girls, the adults all giggle.

SIDE DAD STORY
We roll up to the ice cream shop

at least 40 years old
and they're standing there
by themselves
And each of them got a double... one got a TRIPPLE...

then got in their cars
and drove away

You're saying that... teenagers... are in charge of... roller coasters?

The mom gleamed

The next in line mother's daughter then spoke...

we'll say... in an ominous, approaching terrified voice

even if it's just for the ambiance of the story

"I worked here in high school. On the first day, you sit at a desk with a fan. On the fan is a piece of paper. And on the paper are the words...

PUSH BUTTON TO TURN ON

She concluded quite bubbly "and then they told me... that's it. You can now operate a roller coaster"

And that was our last roller coaster of the day

HAHA JK it was actually the first and then we did 5 more
