1: Darüşşifa: Ottoman Turkish spelling for the Arabic term Dar al-Shifa, which literally translates to 'House of Cure'. These were specially designated buildings where patients were treated in the Ottoman Empire.

2: Müezzin: Turkish spelling of the Arabic word Mu'azzin, which describes a person who recites the Islamic call to prayer from mosque minarets.
