How To Get Stretched Resolution in Fortnite Chapter 7! (Best Settings 2026)

You switch to stretched resolution.
At first it feels good. Wider player models. Different tracking feel.
Then something breaks.

The game forces you back to native.
Black bars appear.
Input suddenly feels inconsistent — even though your FPS hasn’t changed.

This is not random.
Stretched resolution only works correctly when three layers agree:
Fortnite’s config file
Windows display handling
AMD driver scaling

If one layer overrides the others, you get resets, incorrect scaling, or added latency from improper display behavior.
In this video, I walk through the correct way to set up 1720x1080 stretched resolution for Fortnite using AMD Adrenalin — the balanced stretched res that maintains clarity without extreme distortion.

We’re not using broken in-game overrides.
We’re not forcing unsafe timings.
We’re configuring it properly at the config and driver level.

After this setup you get:
No black bars
No resolution reverting
Proper full-panel stretch
Stable input behavior
Cleaner competitive feel

1720x1080 is currently the most balanced stretched option. It slightly widens player models, reduces horizontal rendering load, and avoids the heavy distortion of extreme resolutions.
If you’re going to run stretched, do it correctly.

🛠️ Commands, Paths & Tweaks Used
Fortnite Competitive Baseline
Video Settings:
Window Mode → Full Screen (recommended for lowest latency)
VSync → Off
Frame Rate Limit → Match monitor refresh rate
Rendering Mode → Performance / DX11 / DX12 (test stability)
View Distance → Mid
Shadows → Off
Effects → Low
Meshes → Low

Fortnite Config Lock (Prevents Revert)
Press Windows + R
Type:
%localappdata%
Navigate to:
FortniteGame → Saved → Config → WindowsClient
File:
GameUserSettings.ini
Before editing:
Right-click → Properties
Uncheck Read-only

Open in Notepad and edit:
ResolutionSizeX=1720
ResolutionSizeY=1080
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=1720
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=1080

Ensure:
No duplicate resolution entries
Both ResolutionSize and LastUserConfirmed values match
Save file.
Right-click → Properties → Enable Read-only → Apply

Create Custom Resolution in AMD Adrenalin
Right-click Desktop → AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
Settings (Gear Icon) → Display
Custom Resolutions → Create New
Horizontal: 1720
Vertical: 1080
Refresh Rate: Match monitor (144Hz / 240Hz / etc.)
Save after validation.

AMD Scaling Configuration
AMD Adrenalin → Display
GPU Scaling → On
Scaling Mode → Full Panel
This removes black bars and forces proper stretch behavior.

Revert to Native Cleanly
%localappdata% → FortniteGame → Saved → Config → WindowsClient
Uncheck Read-only
Change resolution values back to native (example 1920x1080)
Save
AMD Adrenalin → Display
GPU Scaling → Off
If this setup fixed your stretched issues, comment your GPU and refresh rate so others can compare results.
