Reel 1.
01:00:13 - M/S of men and women in bathing costumes splashing about in sea and waving to the strains of "It Ain't Gonna Rain No More." A man gives a woman a piggy back but she falls over his head. M/S as a horse pulls a changing cabin on wheels through the shallow water. M/S as two girls look back cheekily at the camera and walk into the sea. L/S of people on the beach as the camera pans over them.
01:00:42 - Opening titles - "A Time to Remember. A programme to take you back - however young you may be - recalled by John Ireland."
01:01:05 - L/S of huge parade down U.S. street during election time. M/S of two men and a woman in a car. L/S of crowds gathered together. M/S of Franklin D. Roosevelt on crutches stood next to Democrat Al Smith and another man. M/S of Republican President Calvin Coolidge walking up the steps to the White House. M/S interior as a man shakes Coolidge's hand and gives him a gavel, he sits down.
01:01:41 - M/S of someone sat on a car watching the total eclipse of the sun through special eye glasses, others stand around him. M/S of the sun during the eclipse.
01:01:49 - M/S of a group of American Civil War veterans stood together holding the American Stars and Stripes flag. C/U as the camera pans across their faces, they look very serious.
01:02:15 - M/S of a ship's funnel blowing out smoke. C/U of the sea, camera pans up to show the waves. M/S looking back at the sea from over a sailor's shoulder as he stands on the deck of the ship.
01:02:28 - Title - "A Trip To Europe."
01:02:38 - C/U of a sign saying 'Cunard Express to Paris' and an arrow pointing off-screen. Picture fades to a (Parisian ?) railway station with a train pulling in.
01:02:44 - L/S of cars driving down the Place de la Concorde, the Eiffel Tour is in the background. L/S of the Arc de Triomphe with cars driving up and down the Champs Elysees, and people crossing the road. L/S of the Seine after it has burst its banks and flooded the streets, the camera pans across it to show the top of a lamppost sticking out. People walk up wooden ramps to get across the flooded streets.
01:03:08 - M/S of officials and dignitaries walking through Madrid to show their loyalty to King Alfonso (Alphonso ?) XIII and Queen Ena of Spain. M/S low angle shot of the couple on the balcony, the King smiles.
01:03:20 - M/S of a small brown bear holding a bottle and drinking out of it. Crowds stand and watch, young King Michael of Romania (Rumania) also watches from a balcony. C/U of Michael leaning over the balcony.
01:03:27 - Italy - M/S of the front of a battleship, the camera pans up it. M/S of Edda Mussolini stood on a platform getting ready to launch it. L/S as the ship slides down into the water.
01:03:41 - M/S's of Benito Mussolini in a cage feeding and playing with a lion cub.
01:03:52 - L/S of huge crowds gathered in Greece. M/S of Greek troops marching past. M/S of a demonstration in Athens, people run about and horses slip and fall as they chase protesters down the street.
01:04:05 - Germany. M/S's of man making passionate speech on platform. M/S of soldiers (?) cheering. L/S of rival political supporters riding around the street in trucks and waving flags.
01:04:42 - Various shots of French soldiers occupying the Ruhr in Germany, they patrol the borders. M/S as convoy of trucks and soldiers pass down the street. L/S of soldiers stood in a wood eating. M/S of three looking at a map. M/S of soldiers patrolling near railway signals. M/S's of locomotive engine being oiled and checked over by French engineers. M/S of the train driving up the track.
01:05:42 - M/S of delegates from the League of Nations sat in a room. M/S of others sat around a table. M/S of Aristide Briand, M/S of Gustav Stresemann. M/S of Briand and Stresemann stood together outside with the other delegates.
