The War That Made the Wristwatch

Pocket watches didn’t fade away, they were left behind on the battlefield.

In 1900 during the Second Boer War, British soldiers discovered a deadly flaw: they couldn’t check the time while under fire. So, they strapped their pocket watches to their wrists.

What was once a woman’s accessory became a soldier’s lifeline and the wristwatch was born in blood, dirt, and necessity.

Hans Wilsdorf saw the shift, and Rolex history began right there in the trenches.

🎖 The wristwatch wasn’t invented for style. It was forged in survival.
