The Demolition of the Zanesville, Ohio Masonic Temple

The Masonic Temple Building was located at 36–42 N. Fourth Street, Zanesville, Ohio.

This building was the sixth built by the local Masonic lodge. It was designed by Oscar Cobb & Son of Chicago and built by Robert H. Evans & Co. The cornerstone was laid in 1902 and the building was completed in 1903. The architectural styles reflected are Second Renaissance Revival on the exterior and Egyptian Revival in the interior. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 25, 1990.

The Masonic Temple was the nucleus of Zanesville's artist's community by the early 2000's, being home to up to 40 galleries. It was a popular center for the community's art walks.

The Masonic Temple was destroyed in a fire in the late night of January 6th, 2022. Its remains were demolished, starting on January 21st. This footage was live-streamed on Facebook from across the street, by Ron Cole.
