State Ural Russian Folk Choir - very old record, s1
State Ural Russian Folk Choir
I inherited this record from my late grandmother about 25 years ago.
I remember listening to this very same record when i was a kid back in the 70's, and that record looked just as battered back then as it does today, so it must be really old.
If there's anybody who can tell more about this specific old record, i'd appreciate to hear it!
I don't speak or read or even understand any russian language, so please stick to english or german.
Mr. Paul Meyer kindly informed me about the contents:
Dear Sir,
This information which I am taking from a record sleeve is as follows;
(the) State Urals Folk Choir was organized in 1943 (leader L.L. Chistiansen).
The choir was comprised of participants of the Ural villages of Izmodyenova and Pokrovskoye. Among them are (were) A. Shirokova, K. Kashtanova, M. Plekhanova,
S. Kvashnin, L. Makushina, I. Krutsky, A.Ustuzhyaninova and others.
Thank you!
Edit 04. of March, 2014:
Now this clip has been up for a few years, and I'm happy to see there are still visitors coming by and they like what they hear..
Also, it occured to me how incredibly good the quality of that recording was. Just listen to that absolutely natural sound, the depth, the range!
Almost unbelievable this quality was possible with the equipment available in russia in the 1950ies!
But then - here I am with the record in my hands and I have no reason to believe this record is any less than 55 years old. I admit to have used some software to improve on the crackling this record produces, but on very light settings as to not destroy the natural sound.
Listen to the other side as well: http://youtu.be/8JduLY3xWgo
Enjoy!
