Travel Massive Year In Review 2020

Thanks to over 60,000 members for being a part of Travel Massive this year.

Here’s a quick look back at 2020 — we hope you enjoy these snaps.

To wrap-up, here's a few community achievements...

🚀 We grew to over 63,000 members, including more than 12,000 content creators, 10,000 tour operators, and 7,000 founders.

🌎 We expanded to 173 local chapters in 73 countries, welcoming new cities including Raleigh, Silicon Valley, Edmonton, Venice, Swakopmund, Oaxaca, Porto, and Seville.

😭 We organised the world’s best travel conference that got cancelled. Travel Massive Global Forum in Berlin would feature 25 speakers on leadership, community, and changing the world. Next time...

🍺 We launched StrandedInBerlin to help co-ordinate thousands of displaced travel industry members in Berlin...

🏔 … this spun off StrandedInAustin for SXSW and StrandedInNepal which helped thousands of tourists stuck in Nepal get information, stay connected and get home safely.

🎥 We produced 12 LIVE Shows to help the industry learn about the unfolding impact of Covid19 across the industry including tours and activities, content creators, and in South Africa, Asia and NYC.

🤓 We developed our own LIVE event platform and hosted 64 online events with more than 6,000 attendees and 16,877 views on YouTube.

💪 Over 220 speakers shared their expertise and knowledge with 13,965 attendees at free online panels, workshops, and presentations.

👋 We launched Travel Massive Match, matching 2,794 members who “swiped right” (for professional use, only!)

🎓 We co-hosted the ITT Future You: International Careers Conference, organized by The Institute of Travel & Tourism (ITT) with 650+ registrations, 50+ speakers, 20+ sessions.

🌍 We hosted the Social Entrepreneurship in Tourism Competition, with 82 applications from change makers in 39 countries (two-thirds were women founded startups).

✊🏾 We supported the Black Lives Matter movement to take a stand against racism in travel and participated in PullUpForTravel and published our diversity KPIs with The Black Travel Alliance.

🌱 We formed the Responsible Tourism Chapter to share sustainable and equitable travel practices in 2021.

🙋🏻‍♀️ We published a list of 100 Inspiring Women Founders to recognize their achievements in creating positive change in travel.

🎧 We curated a list of 35 travel podcasters from our community, and the Travel Massive Podcast had 6,651 downloads.

🦠 We curated and shared more than 391 links, news, discussions, online events, support groups, and other resources about the pandemic on our Covid19 Resources Forum.

🦄 We shared 183 jobs, courses, and more on our marketplace.

📈 We grew our blog to over 1100 member interviews and recaps.

🎉 We launched 8 Travel Massive SOCIAL events — 604 members joined us for short travel film screenings, quiz night, a global scavenger hunt, virtual tour, and cocktail making classes.

🙏 Shout outs to over 240 chapters leaders around the world, who huddled in our WhatsApp groups and hangouts, and supported our events and causes through lockdowns — thank you!

🎂 Travel Massive's 10th birthday — we started as a monthly meetup on the rooftop of the YHA hostel in Sydney, and turned into this!
