Irish Polka Medley: Gilles Apap and the Santa Barbara Symphony

Mark your calendars - Violins Around the World is only days away! On Saturday, March 20th (with matinee encore Sunday, March 21st), tune in to see and hear violin virtuoso Gilles Apap as he joins Maestro Nir Kabaretti and the Santa Barbara Symphony for a globetrotting program that travels cross musical genres, from classical to Apap's orchestral arrangements with French, Irish, Balkan, Bluegrass, and popular music themes.

Recorded from our 2020/21 Grand Venue Sponsor, The Granada Theatre and streaming LIVE to your living room on March 20th (with an encore matinee on March 21), this program features Symphony No. 1 by Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a prolific 18th-century Black composer, violin virtuoso (it’s rumored Mozart, another of his contemporaries, felt jealous of his skill), and a renowned champion fencer who was a contemporary of Mozart and Haydn. The evening will also include famed Violin Concerto No. 5, “The Turkish,” with a unique interpretation performed by guest soloist Apap.
