Simple Bone Broth

Bone broth is a staple in our kitchen- especially as we head into winter. Not only is it packed with nutritional benefits but it's so simple to make. Just add the ingredients and let the bones work their magic!

This time I used bones from a smoked chicken we had for dinner, but we also love beef broth and especially turkey. Don't let that carcass go to waste on Thanksgiving - it makes the most delicious broth!

Directions:
1. Place bones in slow cooker.
2. Add 1 Tbsp. of raw Apple Cider Vinegar (this helps pull the good stuff from the bones).
3. Add 1 Tbsp. Salt
4. Add a chicken neck or foot if you have one - definitely optional!
5. Cover and cook on low for 48 hours. Check and add water as needed.

Strain into glass jars. Keep in the fridge for 4-5 days, freeze for later (careful with glass for this option), or bottle for long term storage.

Source bones from your local farmer or rancher if you can. We love the ones from our pastured poultry and grass-finished beef - they make the most beautiful broth. Enjoy!
