"Great Race" movie car "The Leslie Special" - 2016 Keeneland Concours

Take a ride in a purpose-built movie car from he 1965 American slapstick comedy film "The Great Race" starring Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Natalie Wood. Owned by Stahls Auto Museum in Michigan, this clip shows the car driving onto the show field at the 2016 Keeneland Concours d'Elegance in Lexington, KY.

Tony Curtis, as the Great Leslie, drove this namesake car in a race from New York to Paris against Jack Lemmon, as Professor Fate, driving the Hannibal Twin-8 with its telescopic body.

A year and half after my little joy ride, I learned that "The Sweetheart Tree" love song from the movie was instrumental in the courtship of notable MG car guru Dave Zyp and his wife, Pat. At their recent 50th wedding anniversary celebration, Dave shared that, while a disc jockey at the college radio station, he spun the love song just for Pat. Cheers to the Zyps!

Here's a clip of Natalie Wood singing to Tony Curtis. http://bit.ly/2nJRVEZ
