Professor Carles Boix of Princeton University explained the transition from stateless, relatively equal communities to agrarian, unequal and state-governed societies that have taken place since about 8,500 BC. This seminar was part of the Ash Democracy Seminar Series administered by the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, Harvard Kennedy School.
