One of the most important strategic castles established by the Normans back in the 12th Century, and then held by the Butlers of Ormonde all the way up until the early 20th Century. Most of the architecture that you see today was done as part of renovations in the 1900's and looks like something straight out of Game of Thrones.
The Castle is really the jewel in the crown of Kilkenny as Ireland's medieval city, and one of the best weekend or day trip getaways for tourists.
