The Great Red Spot is one Earth wide, not three #nasa #space #astronomy #spacehistory #engineering

Every documentary uses the same line — a storm big enough to swallow two or three
Earths. That was true in the nineteenth century. Hubble has measured the storm
every year for a decade, and in a 2024 study its widest axis ranged between about
12,900 and 14,200 kilometres. Earth is 12,742. So: roughly one Earth, and still
shrinking. Nobody knows why it is contracting, or when it will stop.
