Welcome to Week 12! (Spring 2024)
Welcome to Week 12! In this greeting, I tell you about a GREAT podcast series by Stanford neuroscientist, David Eagleman, called "Inner Cosmos." Check it out at: https://eagleman.com/podcast. The episodes this week are VERY timely for those of you in my Psychobiology class as he is in the middle of a 3-part set of episodes on Sleeping and Dreaming and I was listening to part 2 called "Why do brains dream?" (https://eagleman.com/podcast/why-do-brains-dream-sleeping-dreaming-part-2/).
I was walking to Music Hall to listen to the spectacular Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. VERY fittingly, as it was our heroic pal, Dr. Philip Zimbardo's, 91st birthday, the symphony was playing Richard Wagner's Ein Heldenleben, which translates to "A Hero's Life!" Needless to say, I reflected on Zim's life and hero's journey and my years of friendship and interactions with him.
I also mention in this video that you students can attend the symphony for just $15! Or you could set up a plan for only $50 which permits you to go to ALL regular performances for the whole year! And I believe you can select from practically ANY seats still available shortly before a performance. These seats would cost the blue-haired crowd upwards of $100 sometimes and well over a thousand for the whole season! GIve it a try! You might like it. Trust me, it's far more interesting and fun to see it performed live than to just listen to recordings. See the student access options at: https://www.cincinnatisymphony.org/tickets-and-events/subscribe/student-access/.
Have a Great Week 12!
