In 2013 my organization, The Center for Asian American Media launched an initiative called Memories to Light: Asian American Home Movies to digitize, archive, and share Asian American home movies to provide an unfiltered look into the personal lives of Asian Americans during this era of home movie making, roughly between the 1940s and 1970s. These films serve as a contrast to the stereotypical images of Asian Americans that dominate the media landscape. Dawn donated 1000s of feet of home movie reels to the collection, she was one of the first to participate, and this is one of many home movies from her family you can find on archive.org that depict Filipino American life in Stockton from the 50s through the 80s.
