Police surround West Warwick hotel, block off highway off-ramps

A heavy police presence at a hotel in West Warwick on Saturday afternoon ended with a man being taken into custody.

The hectic scene unfolded in the back parking lot of the Springhill Suites by Marriott on the James P Murphy Highway. State and local police could be seen at the ready with guns drawn, some donning tactical gear.

Officers were spread throughout the parking lot, and officers were also stationed on the other side of the woods behind the hotel.
