Will Daniel Take Johnny to Okinawa in Season 3? - Cobra Kai Theory
We know Daniel will go to Okinawa in season 3, and that he’ll most likely team up and learn from Chozen about Miyagi and the very mysterious things about him that Daniel and we as the audience, never knew about. While that’s all interesting, I’m here to give my thoughts on a theory I have seen people talk about on reddit, and in my comment section…the theory is that maybe Daniel will take Johnny with him to Okinawa. While I don’t think this is going to happen at all, I’d like to play a little devil’s advocate and discuss how it could happen, as well as how it could not. It’s definitely a cool theory and it makes you think.
Daniel is broken, and we know there will be a time jump in Season 3, if you don’t know that, check my other video explaining how we know this and the theory’s behind it. I think Daniel could end up taking Johnny with him to Okinawa. I don’t think Johnny will be too receptive to it, but with some convincing, I think it could be done. Daniel and Johnny have more in common than they know, they’re practically the same person, they want the same things for their students, like discipline, self respect, and to learn Karate, just their approach is just different. Normally, Johnny would scoff at Miyagi-Do, but now that he is done with Cobra Kai, maybe he’s ready to learn another style of Karate. Maybe he’s now more receptive of other forms after Kreese has left a bad taste in his mouth regarding any association with Cobra Kai. As he said, I created Cobra Kai, it belongs to me. Always has, always will. With the Cobra Kai door closed, a new one must open, and Miyagi Do may teach him the balance he needs.
Now if he does go with Daniel to Okinawa, then it’ll be a big culture shock for him. He will have to learn to adapt to the Okinawan way, he will learn from Chozen and maybe even find a Kumiko of his own there. Johnny Will find a new form of Karate to guide him on his journey, learning that striking first maybe isn’t the only way, taking all that he has learned, in conjunction with Okinawan Karate, Miyagi-Do Karate, and creating his own variation to make Johnny Lawrence Karate.
He could return to LA with a new mental state and a new form of Karate to team up with Daniel and take back Karate in the valley, to teach the right way as they confront Kreese, and possibly, someone behind him as well.
Now here’s why I don’t think it’ll happen. Daniel going to okinawa is already a big enough setting, adding chosen into the mix makes it more interesting, like seasoning a food. Putting Johnny Lawrence in there would just take away from Daniel’s story and arc. We’d be constantly going back and forth between what Daniel is feeling and what Johnny is learning or adapting to the vastly different style of Karate and life.
It would also make the show not as exciting, as one of the large interests of the show, is the drama between Daniel and Johnny. If that is solved at such an early stage of season 2, then where does it go from here for season 3 and 4 and more hopefully? I think Johnny and Daniel will eventually settle their eternal dispute, but I don’t think it’ll be so soon. I think we’ll get scenes like we did of them at the bar in season 1 and at dinner in season 2, but for the most part, I think they’ll be on their own journeys of finding themselves, and achieving balance. Once they’ve done this, I can see them coming together to fight a bigger threat. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Kreese was always the top villain, or misunderstood villain I should say. Throw Silver in the mix, and Mike Barnes if they want, and we have a real trio that will need more than just Daniel and Johnny on their own, they’ll need to unite and settle their feud for the greater good of those they love.
I think it’ll be interesting to see Daniel on his own, and Johnny on his own in LA, it would make the show more interesting, the universe bigger and not all just in Okinawa, and it would open more doors of different characters to be explored and relevant.
A recent theory I got in an email, is that Ali Mills is reaching back out to Johnny because her daughter ran away to LA, in the theory, they say the daughter is Tory and once Johnny messaged Ali, she thought he could help her track her down.
It’s a theory I wouldn’t mind discussing for fun, so let me know your thoughts on it and the rest of this video regarding Johnny going to Okinawa and how it’s an interesting concept, albeit unrealistic...
I guess we'll find out in Cobra Kai Season 3!
