'Sejoli' begins with a joyous scene of the marriage between Zubaidah and Ismail. But the story soon
makes a turn for the worst when Ismail, under the influence of his friends, forsakes Zubaidah when
she becomes pregnant. She is harassed and forced to leave her house when she couldn’t pay rent.
Distraught, she roams the streets and abandons her baby girl in a rich family’s villa. The family adopts
the poor girl and fate decrees that she will meet her biological mother when she grows up.
