IFR Flight Santa Monica to San Diego-SMOP22 TEC Route with a Twist

On today’s flight we’re going to be flying an IFR route from KSMO to KSAN, better know as Lindbergh Field in San Diego, CA.

Specifically, we are going to be flying the SMOP22 TEC route. I get alot of questions about how to find and program these routes so I’m going to do my best to explain the process so you’ll be ready if you make it out here to my little neighborhood.

And on today’s flight we’ll get a valuable lesson on what to do when ATC decides to amend that TEC route when you least expect it. And finally, we’ll get to try a new departure procedure here out of SMO which promises to make leaving SMO alot easier and less stressful. Come along for the ride!
