Clearing (theme song for our year-long bicycle pilgrimage)

We took Martha Postlethwaite's poem, Clearing, added some instruments and arranged it into song. Thanks Martha, and thanks Nana Jones for sending this poem through to us. This song is the first of a series we'll make on the road over the next twelve months and really establishes some of the intentions for this pilgrimage. Filmed in Djaara and Wadawurrung countries.

Do not try to save
the whole world
or do anything grandiose.
Instead, create
a clearing
in the dense forest
of your life
and wait there
patiently,
until the song
that is your life
falls into your own cupped hands
and you recognise and greet it.
Only then will you know
how to give yourself
to this world
so worthy of rescue.
