In this clip from Art Journaling 5 - Mix Up The Media, Kate Crane shows how easy it is to design a stencil, cut it out using the Gryo-Cut tool, then use a gel plate and acrylic paint to print the design onto her work.

In the full-length DVD, Kate shows how all kinds of hoarded and recycled materials can be used as to create pages for a junk journal - one that, as well as containing journal pages, can include photos, letters, mementoes - almost anything that you treasure and want to keep safe forever. To create the mixed media backgrounds for her Junk Journal pages, Kate gets busy with the familiar inks and paints and adds lots of depth and texture by adding deli paper printed on a Gelli plate and using her own hand-cut stencils. Watch her backgrounds come alive with colour, texture and contrast as Kate completes them with lots of added detail to create beautifully balanced pages ready for completion in Art Journaling 6 - Junk It Up!
