Uncovering Stanford from the Queer Black Perspective: Oh Noir! Ep. 1

When you think of a Stanford student’s experience, what do you think of? Well, going off of what current Stanford perspectives are popular across social media platforms, it’s often white, straight, and/or cis. For both us, Tristyn and Lingarbel, and the many of you that may exist at the intersection of many different marginalized identities, where do our stories and perspectives fit in? That’s the question that led us to start Oh NOIR! (Navigating Our Intersectional Realities). We wanted to create a space to talk about real life as a queer, black, first-gen, low income, non-binary black woman, for those who are like us and different from us to learn and make space for our visibility in social media. So, let’s talk about it!

This first episode covers a little bit of how we came into ourselves & our identities at Stanford and what it’s like to date as a black queer person at an elite PWI, which sounds just as complicated as you’re thinking.
