On the outskirts of Gytheio/ Gythio, Greece lies a shipwreck grounded on a golden sandy beach. But how did it end up here?

The Dimitrios shipwreck on Valtaki beach, near Gytheio, is famous in the area as it sits on a wonderful beach in a picturesque location. Was it a smugglers ship or just unlucky due to a raging storm in Nov 1981? During our Mani Peninsula, Peloponnese trip we visited the shipwreck. It really is beautiful in a rusty sort of way. An instagram paradise!
