Installing Stone Veneer In the WorkShop

Actually they're paving stones. In this video I clear the old set up where the new stones will be installed & begin the build. I first fir the existing wooden studs with metal studs. Its important the metal is perfectly flat with one another. To do that I use a long strait edge. I place the strait edge horizontal on the metal studs & using shims I bring the metal out until the entire row of studs are flat on the strait edge. I start low & work my way up until its good....
Then I place the dura rock. I silicone it to the metal studs to ensure it won't sag in the future. I secure it with a lot of screws too.
Then I use a roofing staple to secure metal lath to the durarock. Then a good scratch coat of mortar mix.
Then I pull out the paving stones from the back yard, wash them & choose the pieces I like.
Then I mix a batch of mortar to use in the installation & decided to color it, I used a terra cotta color because it matched the stones.
I then install the stones (more on that in a future video) The grout & use an old paint brush to remove the excess grout. It turns out the terra cotta color mix stains easily so afterwards I had some clean up to do.
If interested ill be posting a detailed version on this install in the near future. A step by step for anybody thats thinking about doing this.
This is my first time doing this, I learned as I go. My first attempt not shown here was a failure, more on that later.

This wall was placed to allow me to have a closer clearance on the wood burning stove that will be going in front of there soon.
