Aadhaar Update: Free Service Extended Until 2027

Aadhaar Update: Free Service Extended Until 2027, Plus New Rules
According to this video, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for Aadhaar cardholders to update their documents online free of charge until June 14, 2027. This facility is specifically intended for individuals whose Aadhaar cards are quite old, enabling them to re-verify their Proof of Identity and Proof of Address on the portal without incurring any fees. However, if users choose to carry out this update by visiting an Aadhaar Service Center, they will be required to pay a fee. Additionally, the government plans to introduce a new and more secure Aadhaar app, which will replace the existing version. The primary objective behind this initiative is to ensure that the Aadhaar database remains accurate and up-to-date, thereby preventing any disruptions for citizens when accessing services such as banking and government subsidies. Through this process, biometric and demographic details can also be corrected, for which specific fees have been prescribed.
