INTRODUCTION:
This video maps out the modern history of the Druze community in the Levant from the 20th century to the present day. The Druze, who call themselves al-Muwahhidun (the Monotheists) are a stateless and as the name suggests, monotheistic ethno-religious people group mainly inhabiting Syria as also Lebanon & Palestine. They were founded in 1000 CE. Before the 20th century, they had paramount chiefdoms and dynastic rule, but have never possessed their own independent polity, unless under external control. They have faced countless massacres at the hands of external rulers.

DISCLAIMER:
The Lebanese constitution & National Pact reserves 8 seats and the Chief of General Staff position for the Druzes, but this is non-territorial and thus not shown.

يستعرض هذا الفيديو التاريخ الحديث للطائفة الدرزية في بلاد الشام، ممتداً من القرن العشرين وحتى يومنا هذا. والدروز — الذين يُطلقون على أنفسهم اسم "الموحدين" — هم مجموعة عرقية-دينية لا تملك دولة خاصة بها، وكما يوحي الاسم، فهم قومٌ موحّدون يقطنون بشكل رئيسي في سوريا، فضلاً عن لبنان وفلسطين؛ وقد تأسست طائفتهم في عام 1000 للميلاد. وقبل حلول القرن العشرين، ساد في أوساطهم نظام المشيخات العليا والحكم السلالي، إلا أنهم لم يمتلكوا قط كياناً سياسياً مستقلاً خاصاً بهم، باستثناء الفترات التي خضعوا فيها لسيطرة قوى خارجية؛ كما أنهم واجهوا عدداً لا يُحصى من المذابح على أيدي حكامٍ خارجيين

يُخصِّص الدستور اللبناني والميثاق الوطني 8 مقاعد ومنصب رئيس الأركان العامة للطائفة الدرزية، إلا أن هذا التخصيص لا يرتبط بنطاق جغرافي محدد، ولذلك لم يتم إظهاره.
