Bank Fishing For Salmon, MULTIPLE Coho & Chinook Salmon FROM SHORE

I'm Bank Fishing For Salmon, fishing with spinners/lures from the shore in Oregon. This trip was ACTION Packed with Multiple Salmon catches on Spinners. This was such a fun trip for me and I'm stoked to be able to share it with all of you. After my first successful trip here to the lower Columbia a week prior, I decided that I wanted to plan another trip so I could take advantage of this great return of coho salmon. Mostly I was just casting spinners but I did decide to mix it up at some point and try something different, which worked out quite well, hooking me a huge coho.
Between plunking with herring and casting a variety of spinners, everything has been working here... WHEN the fish are here and WHEN they are biting. Obviously these fish are migrating upriver, so this area is quick to go cold once the fish have pushed through.. just another reason I wanted to get down here again.
Mepp's make a great lure (The Flying C) which is used by a lot of fishermen that are casting spinners. I made up some spinners for Angling Addict Fishing Co which are a 3/4oz and worked very well for me during this trip. I look forward to trying these spinners on other areas of the Columbia River AND the Willamette River. If you are new to this fishing area I would recommend bringing an assortment of things to try and in a variety of different weight sizes so you can choose the best tool depending on the conditions and the tides.
I typically cast a 3/8oz when the water is calm, when the tide begins to pick up I switch to a 5/8oz and when the current really gets moving I use a 7/8oz or a 3/4oz. The variety of sizes will also help reach different levels in the water, allowing you to cover more territory in search of those coho.

As you will see in the video, there were plenty of jacks around. I did keep one because I actually have yet to eat one, so I figured I'd give it a try. What I did notice was some big, aggressive fish this time around which made for a lot of excitement. These coho were stripping line and making some pretty impressive leaps out of the water. It was fun to watch the other fishermen fight these fish and to have the experience myself.
