Spey Casting - Choosing the Best Cast for the Conditions

This was not originally intended as a Spey casting instruction video - we did not film any of this with that in mind. Instead, this footage was taken during a salmon fishing trip with friends, with the purpose of creating a souvenir video of the trip ("Spring Silver" - published on this channel).

When editing the footage, it became apparent that there was a variety of casts and techniques captured, that could be used to explain the salmon fisher's usage of different casts for different conditions; a topic often confusing to newcomers to Spey casting. We have therefore edited the footage together with some annotations to provide explanation.

If we had started with the intention of producing a casting video we probably would have filmed all casts off both banks, in the order Single Spey, Double Spey, Snake Roll and Snap T. In any event, we hope some will find this useful.
