How to fix the missing Codec Error when you boot up Resident Evil 8 Village. Which is a fast process that involves making sure you have windows media player, or equivalent codec pack, installed on your windows machine.

1. Go to Manage Optional Features. Ensure that Windows Media Player is installed. If its not click on Add New Feature. Then Type in Media and install Windows Media Player.
2. Similarly. If you are using a Windows N edition of Windows 10. You can check under Optional Features for a Media Pack. Which contains things like optional video playing codecs for your computer.
3. Install K-Lite Codec pack. An open source free pack of Media Codecs to play every video file type known to exist.
4. Verify the Integrity of the Installed files. Sometimes game files get corrupted when you download them. Steam should check them and let you know if anything is broken.
5. Final Step. When in doubt. Uninstall and reinstall Resident Evil 8.
