Quarantine Diaries - II

The year was 2012 and I was visiting Lahore from Warwick over Christmas Holidays. One evening, my father told me that he has received a call from Ustad Fateh Ali Khan of Gwalior Gharana, who was also visiting Lahore for a concert. He wanted to invite my father to the concert. On knowing that he is going to stay in Lahore for a few days, I decided to benefit from this opportunity and invited Khansahib over for dinner so that we could have a discussion on music. I was specially interested in the association his father Ustad Ghulam Rasool Khan and uncle Ustad Umeed Ali Khan had with my grandfather.
During the course of our discussion, I requested Khansahib if it would be possible to record his talk and if he can demonstrate a little bit as well. He was reluctant at first as he hadn't brought his swarmandal but I told him that I already have an electronic tanpura and harmonium, which could be played by his disciple who was accompanying him. What transpired was two hours full of interesting anecdotes and demonstration.
