The CCR Breakup Timeline Explained
Creedence Clearwater Revival's relatively short life as a band began in a junior high school band room in El Cerrito, California. Drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford says he remembers approaching John Fogerty, who was at the piano, and telling him he was a good musician, according to Louder Sound. The two 14-year-olds started the band then and there.
Clifford's friend Stu Cook joined, first playing piano, then bass. John's older brother Tom also joined. The band signed to independent label Fantasy Records, and the rest was history. CCR released hit after hit. Despite their massive popularity as a group, the individual members weren't particularly well known, so their solo careers after the band broke up had wildly varying degrees of success.
The band's breakup and the longstanding feud that followed have become the stuff of music legend. Here's the full timeline, explained.
