Shajay Bhooshan: Interview on digitalization

Throughout this series of interviews realized by urbanNEXT in IAAC, Shajay Bhooshan addresses current digitalization and robotics-related-issues.

As Senior Associate at Zaha Hadid Architects(ZHA) where he heads the research activities of the Zaha Hadid Computation and Design (CODE) group that he co-founded with Patrik Schumacher and Nils Fischer, Shajay Booshan also works as a studio master at the Design Research Laboratory Master’s program at the Architectural Association (AA), London. He pursues his research in structure and fabrication aware architectural geometry as a PhD Candidate at the Block Research Group, ETH Zurich. Previously, he has worked at Populous, London and completed his M.Phil from the University of Bath and M. Arch from the AA School of Architecture, London.

His current interests & responsibilities include developing design-research and maintaining computational platforms for the same at ZHA. He has taught and presented work at various professional and academic events and institutions including ACADIA ‘17, IABSE ‘17, Tensinet ’16 and ‘13, AAG ‘16, simAud ’15,‘14 and ‘10, Designers Gallery AU ’11, Design computation symposium AU ‘10 , Siggraph ‘08, ETH Zurich, Yale School of architecture and Universities of Applied Arts Vienna and experimental architecture Innsbruck, CITA Copenhagen, IAAC Barcelona, Tongji University Shanghai etc.
