Catch, Clean, Cook: Spearfishing in the Bahamas (Calico Skies Sailing, Ep. 53)

In this episode we get down to the business of enjoying what the Ragged Island group is best known for, unspoiled wilderness. After weathering a five day wind storm in South Bay in last weeks episode we are keen to start exploring and get some time in the water. We decide to depart South Bay and head north to Hog Cay with our new friends on @Sailing SV Delos and Keelin' It.

Having buddy boats is one of our favorite aspects of cruising since we there is always someone to hang out with. Grace enjoyed sunrise hikes with the ladies while Bill spent hours and hours spearfishing with the boys. The boys return with an entire seafood platter of fish, lobster and conch just in time for a beach potluck. It's a good thing they had a successful fishing trip, as our meat stores are starting to get low as we have been in the Ragged's longer than anticipated. Funny even though we have cruised the Bahamas for three years we have never harvested our own conk. Luckily we have a resident expert (Jerry, Jerry, the boat fixing fairy) around to show us how it's done!
