Social Isolation and the Built Environment - Can Housing Form Play a Role?
Presenter: Amy Lubik, Health Policy Analyst and Researcher, Fraser Health Authority
Social isolation is an increasingly important issue in Canada which has been associated with negative health outcomes such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline among those with dementia. In this webinar we will briefly explore the state of knowledge around built environment and what is being done regarding social isolation. We will focus on exploring how housing forms, such as co-ops and cohousing, may play a role in fighting social isolation, as well as what public health and municipalities can do to promote them.
