PLEASE DON’T BIN YOUR CD – YOU WILL NEED THEM AGAIN WHEN YOU GET BORED WITH STREAMING AND DOWNLOADS
The Compact Disc is STILL the best sounding, most efficient, most informative format for collectors of recorded music today. A top quality, well recorded and mastered CD offers the best sound you can get for all types of music and is NOT inferior to the sound from Vinyl Records or Streaming as some ‘HIFi experts’ would have you believe. With an 80+ mins playing time, fine Cover Artwork and comprehensive sleeve notes or booklet, a CD has all the right discographical data you need from the recording right there in your hand. A Vinyl LP Record has similar properties but has much shorter playing time, uses an incredibly inefficient and costly playback system, can be easily damaged, and is now very over- priced compared with a CD.

Of course the absolutely quickest way for you to contribute to the early death of Vinyl Records and CD’s is to get all your music from Streaming Services and Downloads, which at best is ‘musical wallpaper for the masses’ in my opinion, What’s missing with Spotify, Amazon, Tidal, Deezer and other music sites, is all the fine Artwork and Sleeve Notes which add fun, legitimacy and meaning to the music and give the composers and performers their rightful recognition of their skill. What you get instead is just a computer file that sounds OK but is pure crap for identifying the music and performers readily. I can tell you right now that if you abandon buying physical discs like CD’s or Vinyl Records and just play music files on your Mobile Phone, PC or Streamer, you WILL eventually loose all the excitement for the music you listen to and it will be just ordinary to you and will never be thrilling again as having a physical disc to play.. ‘Nuff said.
