Hollow to Jump Through

This is an extract from one of our recent Bali Intensives where the focus in the Mysore Style practice in the mornings which we then compliment with afternoon workshops that have various themes.
One of the favourities is always the Jump Back/Jump Through class where we break down all the elements in a easy to follow, step by step progression. For the jump through the core position is to be able to hold Lolasana. From there you can add in jumping high to the point of balance - aka floating, or stay low but and glide through. In recent years with all my handstand practice I've come to realise that "compression" i.e ribs in/hollow chest, spine flexed and thighs to chest is a point of difference from the way it used to be taught - which was to get the sitting bones high which would encourage anterior pelvic tilt and arching the lower back. It's a subtle difference but it's a game changer.
