RAMP Journey: Highlights & Moments

The Workshop on Women Fisheries Co-operatives Management & Entrepreneurship Development, Puducherry, under Innovative Projects Advancing the Value Chain of Fisheries Industries (RAMP Programme)’ was successfully conducted on 29–30 December 2025 at Puducherry, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

The programme was organised by the Department of Fisheries & Fishermen Welfare, Government of Puducherry and Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation (PIPDIC) in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Indian Bank, and Atal Incubation Centre – PEC Foundation.

30 fisherwomen participated in the workshop, which focused on strengthening women-led fisheries co-operatives through capacity building in:
Co-operative management, governance, and financial bookkeeping
Entrepreneurship development and fisheries-based enterprises
Marketing, branding, packaging, and use of digital tools
Government schemes, credit linkages, and institutional convergence
Exposure visits to Nector Exports Pvt. Ltd., a crab meat processing unit, for practical industry learning

This initiative marks an important step towards empowering women in the fisheries sector and promoting sustainable livelihoods and inclusive economic growth under the RAMP Programme.
