Trapped in a man’s body: Nicole’s transgender journey

47-year-old Nicole always knew she was different. Born into this world as Nicholas, the Durban, South African knew she had been assigned the wrong body. Her brain, she says, was always 100% female. In other words she was transgender. And so began her quest to transform her exterior to match what was inside. In this interview with Damon Beard of East Coast Drive, Nicole speaks openly about her personal journey as a transgender. She says being transgender is not a choice, but rather a continuous, internal struggle which only really dissipates when acceptance is reached. With this video, Nicole hopes to firstly, give other transgender people the courage to come out, and secondly, their families and friends the understanding to accept and support them. It’s by no means easy, she says.
