Salem auto driver creates 'natural AC' to beat scorching summer heat

Subramaniam is a 76-year-old auto driver in Salem. He has come up with an innovative solution to keep his passengers cool during the scorching summer. He has installed a canopy made of corn stalks, hay, and a sprinkler system that showers water onto the roof, giving the feel of a ‘natural AC’. Having driven an auto for the past 15 years, Subramaniam said he came up with the idea last year when he struggled to drive his auto during the peak summer months.
Subramaniam also offers his passengers cold drinking water and a battery-operated fan to help keep them cool during their journey.
