Pakistan-based Terrorist Amir Hamza was reportedly shot by unknown gunmen in Lahore and is said to be in critical condition at a hospital. Hamza, a founding member of Lashkar-e-Taiba alongside Hafiz Saeed, has long been considered one of the group’s top ideologues. Reports say the attack took place outside a news channel office—marking the second attempt on his life in less than a year. Designated a global terrorist by the United States in 2012, Hamza has been linked to multiple attacks and propaganda operations and the 2005 Bengaluru attack. LeT itself has been responsible for some of the deadliest terror strikes in India, including the 2008 Mumbai attacks, 2006 Mumbai train bombings, and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack.
