Discover Physical Therapy

Eric Bellm: "Physical Therapy at Cincinnati Children's, we have kind of two big umbrellas – one is our developmental side and one is our sports and orthopedic side."

Jeff Taylor-Haas: "All of our physical therapists are trained to treat orthopedic and sports conditions in patients from very, very young to into their 20s and 30s."

Eric Bellm: "We have specialists within basically every sport or activity that you'd like - from dance to soccer, to swimming, to baseball to running."

Jeff Taylor-Haas: "All of our patients are seen only by a physical therapist. We do not use physical therapy assistants. We don't use rehab techs or patient extenders."

Jason Hugentobler: "We work with kids. We work with athletes. We see the tough cases. We work as a team to get those patients in those families what they want, which is pain free, symptom free in the end, a returning back to their sport."

Aly Filipa: "What I see in dancers a lot is they don't want to come to see any sort of medical provider in general because they assume that it immediately means that they're not going to be able to dance. What I would hope is that that misconception would be kind of put to the wayside and the dancer would know that our goal is to get them back as soon as it's possible and safe to do so."

Jeff Taylor-Haas: "Running clinic is my baby. I love the running clinic. I'm a runner myself. I've been running since I was 12. When a runner comes in, we spend 90 minutes with them. We go over their history of the running injuries. We do an in depth examination of the runner, but then we do something that's only offered at Cincinnati Children's and that is a 3D running gait analysis. We put markers all over the runner and then we'll use 3D cameras to look at their running form from multiple different angles and that gives me very targeted information that I use to design injury prevention and injury treatment programs."

Aly Filipa: "One of the things I'm super passionate about is trying to do preventative care for dancers."

Eric Bellm: "We want to become that source of knowledge that helps keep those kids on the field or in PE or playing with their friends out in the backyard and not have to worry about an injury."

Patient: "I continued to stay in the game for like a minute longer, but then got bad headaches so I went out."

Jason Hugentobler: "The concussion clinic, in regards to physical therapy, started back in 2011. I think what we're trying to do here, at Cincinnati Children's is try to profile kids a little bit better and make sure that they're getting the right care at the right time."

Aly Filipa: "All of the therapists are very passionate about what they do."

Eric Bellm: "Passion is a big thing here. Everybody loves their job and it shows in every aspect of physical therapy."

Aly Filipa: "You still get to dance, but we're going to talk about how you can modify it."

Jeff Taylor-Haas: "What makes us the best is that we have technology and we have the talent and with the enthusiasm for what we do."

Aly Filipa: "I love working with the kids. I love absolutely working with the dancers. They are wonderful."

Eric Bellm: "I love creating that connection with kids."

Jason Hugentobler: "To give them a glimmer of hope and to hopefully get them to ultimately what they want, is the thing that I come to work here every day for."
