Diamond rain" is a hypothesized, scientifically supported phenomenon occurring deep within the atmospheres of ice giants Neptune and Uranus, where extreme pressure and heat (approx. 7,000 K) break apart methane, causing carbon to crystallize into solid, sinking diamonds. These diamonds form thousands of kilometers below the surface, potentially creating diamond oceans or layers around the core.

SATURN:
Diamonds on Saturn due to intense pressure and heat in its atmosphere. Massive lightning storms convert atmospheric methane into soot (carbon), which hardens into graphite and then crystallizes into diamond "hailstones". Roughly 1,000 tons of diamonds may fall annually, eventually melting into liquid near the core.

Formation Process: Lightning storms in Saturn's atmosphere break down methane (CH4) into carbon soot. As this soot falls, the extreme pressure turns it into graphite and then into diamond.
