Note: much of this video is based on source (10) - if you found this interesting I would highly recommend you give the paper a read! Something that didn't get mentioned much in the video is that really the whole global cooling scare is mostly a hoax perpetuated by sections of the media. In a pattern of behaviour that is seen more broadly in the field, disinformation campaigns have led the public to believe that there is doubt in an area where there simply is none. This particular case is interesting in that sensationalised media reports at the time then 'justified' sensationalised reporting about the science after the fact! As I say in the video, some scientists were concerned about global cooling, and with good reason. However as I show in the video, these scientists did not represent the majority, and their predictions were (predictably) sensationalised by some media coverage, which has subsequently been used by certain (read: climate change denier) parts of the web to erroneously imply that scientists are not to be trusted. If anything, the fact that this was so intensely researched and eventually solved in such a way as to produce correct predictions should be proof that science *does* work and *should* be trusted!
