Tirta Empul Temple (Indonesian: Pura Tirta Empul) is a Hindu Balinese water temple located near the town of Tampaksiring, Bali, Indonesia. The temple compound consists of a petirtaan or bathing structure, famous for its holy spring water, where Balinese Hindus go to for ritual purification. The temple pond has a spring which gives out fresh water regularly, which Balinese Hindus consider to be holy or amritha. Tirta Empul means Holy Spring in Balinese.

Some important information you must know before visiting this temple

*All visitors must need to wear a dress which is below your knees and shoulders need to be covered.

* The ladies must not visit the temple during their menstruation and it is forbidden to enter the temple during menstruation period.

* The ladies must tie their hair with long hair ( Below shoulder ) while entering the main temple. For roaming around the temple premises it’s s not mandatory to tie the hair.

* All the visitor must wear a long piece of cloth/ sarong before entering the premises. The piece of cloth is given to the visitor from the Temple.
