Ingredients:
• 1 ½ cups cooked chickpeas (or 1 can, drained and rinsed)
• ¼ cup tahini (sesame paste)
• 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
• 2-3 tbsp fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
• 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
• ½ tsp ground cumin
• Salt to taste
• 2-4 tbsp cold water (adjust for desired consistency)
• ground cumin , for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare Chickpeas: If using canned chickpeas, drain and rinse them well. If using cooked chickpeas, save some cooking liquid to adjust the consistency.
2. Blend Ingredients: In a food processor, add the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, and salt. Blend until the mixture is thick and grainy.
3. Adjust Texture: Gradually add cold water, a tablespoon at a time, blending after each addition until you reach your desired smoothness and creamy texture.
4. Taste and Adjust: Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning—add more lemon juice, garlic, or salt as per your preference.
5. Serve: Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with ground cumin
6. Enjoy: Serve with warm pita bread, fresh veggies, or as a spread on sandwiches and wraps.
